Inclusive Preparedness For Humanitarian Response - PADIS

Project Details

Quality data is integral to inclusive preparedness and response. Without age appropriate disability data, interventions are not targeted; people are excluded; and the specific needs of women, men, girls, and boys with disability are not met.

This project will explore solutions for two data preparedness issues critical to inclusive humanitarian response. It will identify the priority disability data requirements of shelter professionals alongside blockages to, and system innovations for, ensuring relevant, actionable and sharable data is in place pre-disaster.

Our research objective is to identify innovations for sharing pre-placed and actionable disability data to improve disability inclusion in shelter response.

  1. What data is required by shelter professionals to improve disability inclusion in the shelter sector?
  2. How can disability data that is collected pre-disaster be shared to improve disability inclusion in shelter response?

Our approach is novel and creative as it challenges accepted and widely promoted approaches to disability data. We recognise current guidance on disability data is not leading to significant uptake, change and impact. This project will focus on prioritising the actionable data shelter professionals require to increase inclusion, and will be grounded in and mediated by the expertise and lived experiences of people with disability and older people.
