Health Sector Review for Fiji

Project Details

Fiji faces a high burden of noncommunicable diseases, an ageing population, public spending on health that lags its peers and there are ongoing concerns about delivery of primary healthcare services. With the support of the World Bank, the Health Sector Review is intended to assess Fiji’s health sector challenges, explore the reasons underlying its performance to date, examine future prospects, estimate the opportunity costs of delaying policy action, and identify priority actions that could be implemented over the next 3-7 years to address these challenges.

The Nossal Institute has been closed engaged in all aspects of the Health Sector Review, including drafting the review, undertaking analyses of health financing, forecasting health spending, assessing efficiency in delivery of health services, forecasting the health and economic consequences of delaying policy action, and in the identification and costing of policy actions. The findings of the review are expected to be shared with the health and finance ministers of Fiji and contribute to the development of the Fijian health sector.
