Hidden in the margins: the lives and trajectories of young carers

Project Details

This project aims to examine the social, educational, economic and health-related experiences of young informal carers. Young informal carers are one of the most hidden groups in Australian society and are likely to experience enduring effects of their caring role across many domains.

In light of the roll-out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), the project  will improve our understanding of young informal carers by applying and developing innovative analytic models. This will lead to quantification of the determinants and consequences of being a young informal carer in Australia. In doing so, this project will provide critical information to policy makers and deliver significant benefits to young carers by identifying ways to support them.
