Learning team leading in dual delivery

Quality public health training has never been so crucial, and the demand for public health practitioners is rising quickly. We’ve been working hard to ensure our students can have a flexible, high quality, engaging learning experience which equips them for the realities of tackling the global public health challenges facing us today.

The Nossal Institute and the University have invested heavily in technical support and infrastructure to maximise opportunities to teach creatively and give students direct access to their peers, and to the support and expertise of educators.

In response to the new environment our subjects have moved to dual delivery mode. For students who can and want to access campus, we offer a blend of online and on-campus learning. We now have a fully equivalent online experience for remote students.

Blended Synchronous Learning (BSL) teaching spaces across campus have been expanded to support dual delivery. On campus students have access to collaborative workstations with screens for group work, and multiple video cameras and in-room microphones with a Zoom interface, allowing seamless engagement of students online and on campus at the same time.

Dr Matt Reeve’s intensive subject “Health Program Design and Implementation” was one of the first to use the new delivery mode. “It was so exciting to be back in the classroom” he says “There was great energy in the discussions between online and on campus students. Having industry experts joining us for seminars in person and via Zoom has expanded the range of experts we can invite to contribute. We are creating increased learning options for students.”

Global access to quality public health learning has never been more important, our pivot to dual delivery ensures we continue to be accessible inclusive and student-orientated.
