Description of PhD Project

Using an ethnographic approach, the PhD project will look into the experiences of accessing health and social services among young mothers who work and live on the streets of Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Biography

Pritania is passionate about working directly with vulnerable communities to facilitate equitable access to quality health services and improve overall wellbeing.

She has five years' experience working directly with community health volunteers, people with severe mental health problems, and people in street situations, especially young women. She set up a community-based health center for urban poor communities in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and is now developing an ethnographic study to further understand barriers faced by the communities in accessing health services.

Pritania has a Bachelor in Medicine from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and completed her Masters in Public Health, at University of Melbourne. Through her research and collaborations, she aims to increase the visibility of health issues among marginalised populations and help inform the strengthening of human-centered health systems in Indonesia.
