Description of PhD Project

Building upon preliminary work done within the Dad-Care project, my PhD will be exploring the ways in which fathers of a child with a disability can be supported to improve their wellbeing, their engagement with their children and other caregivers.

Biography

Ben is a father of 2 adult children, one of whom has Down Syndrome. In his professional life, he works as a counsellor working predominantly with family carers of a person with a disability or mental illness. He has also been a community member on the Mental Health Tribunal for the last 12 years. In the past 30 years Ben has held a wide variety of other roles in the health and community sectors, including as a policy advisor for Carers Victoria.
