Dr Anna Barrett

Research Focus: One Health; Health Equity & Inclusion; Infectious diseases

Anna Barrett is an applied public health researcher and Senior Technical Advisor for the One Health Unit at the Nossal Institute for Global Health, with 15 years’ experience in global health, education, child and family wellbeing, and child protection. She holds an MPsych/PhD from the University of Melbourne, and has worked in a range of roles with UN agencies, NGOs, and academic organisations. Her experience spans Asia-Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East and includes academic and operational research, MEAL, humanitarian coordination, community engagement, organisational and program management, implementation, and frontline response.

Anna’s current projects include program management for Community Climate Health Amongst Livestock Keepers in Kyrgyzstan (CCHALKK): a Wellcome Climate Impact Award research project advancing evidence-based policy and practical actions to strengthen human health against adverse climate impacts. Anna also co-leads two post-graduate subjects at the University of Melbourne: “Pandemic Preparedness and Response” and “Putting One Health into Practice”.
