Strategic investments in Human Resources for Health (HRH) enable the delivery of efficient and effective services and enhance organizational capacity for resilience and a stronger response to emerging health challenges.

The World Bank’s India Health, Nutrition, and Population (HNP) Portfolio focuses on strengthening HRH through improving pre-service education and in-service training, and better governance, planning, and management of the health workforce. By enhancing the quality of education and linking it more effectively with labor market needs, the portfolio supports India in identifying challenges and opportunities for health workforce planning and reform.

We are providing advisory technical and analytical support to the World Bank Health, Nutrition and Population Global Practice to conduct a situational analysis of the health workforce in India.
