Exploring the lived experience of learning genomics in the workplace: considerations for innovations and workforce preparedness

Project Details

Numerous countries, including Australia, are working to implement genomics into their respective healthcare systems. Such efforts are creating workplace learning opportunities which could address the medical workforce’s historical lack of preparedness to practice genetics/genomics.

To explore how workplace learning could be leveraged to facilitate workforce preparedness, this PhD study explored doctors’ lived experiences of learning genomics in the workplace. The findings demonstrate the utility of workplace learning in providing novel considerations for innovations, workforce preparedness and system-wide change efforts.
