Congratulations to Prof. Shyamali Dharmage named as CIA on the $3 Million NHMRC Clinical Trials and Cohort Studies Grant
The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) has awarded a $3 million Clinical Trials and Cohort Studies grant to MSPGH’s Professor Shyamali Dharmage (CIA) and her team (photos of the SPGH members appear in the photo panel below). They are joined by national and international collaborators from the George Institute for Global Health, University of Tasmania, Monash University, Royal North Shore Hospital, University of Technology Sydney, Clinical and Provincial Hospital of Barcelona, University of New South Wales, and University of Michigan.
This grant will fund the world's first trial of triple therapy for pre-COPD, conducted within the renowned Tasmanian Longitudinal Health Study (TAHS). The results could revolutionize COPD clinical practice by emphasizing prevention, thereby reducing the burden of COPD and leading to substantial health cost savings and lives saved.
