Our History
The Nossal Institute for Global Health was established in 2006 to advocate for the public health of global communities. Incorporating all the work and activities of the Australian International Health established in 1998, the Institute was named in honour of Sir Gustav Nossal an internationally renowned immunologist known for his global health advocacy.
It is housed within the University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.
Nossal Institute Limited is the operating entity for the Nossal Institute for Global Health (NIGH) and is a fully owned subsidiary of the University of Melbourne, limited by shares owned 100% by the University of Melbourne.
The Institutes has had three directors.
