Student Showcase: Child Health Economics

Student showcase: “Measuring and valuing paediatric health related quality of life for use in economic evaluation: Issues and solutions”

On March 21, 2024, ISPOR Australia hosted a one-day workshop on “Measuring and valuing paediatric health related quality of life for use in economic evaluation: Issues and solutions”. This gathering served as a focal point for leading experts and stakeholders to explore the recent advancements in this area of research.

Central to the workshop was a collaborative effort between the ISPOR VIC TAS Student Chapter, under the leadership of our PhD student Renee Jones, and the ISPOR NSW Student Chapter. Together, they curated a student showcase, providing Masters and PhD students with a platform to present their research on pediatric health-related quality of life and receive feedback from experts, including Prof Nancy Devlin, A/Prof Colman Taylor , and Andrea Cowley.

Among the presenters were five students from our Child Health Economics Unit—Alex van Heusden, Nicole Reyes, Rachel O’Loughlin, Renee Jones, and Elizabeth Walkley—whose work stemmed from the QUOKKA research program.

A highlight of the student showcase was the accomplishments of our three PhD students—Renee Jones, Rachel O’Loughlin, and Alex van Heusden—who received awards for their innovative research presentations and peer recognition.
