PaCE Palliative Care Economics
PaCE - Palliative Care Economics
Our work is grounded in the belief that better evidence leads to better decisions. By combining the strengths of academia, industry, government, and consultancy, we bring a distinctive, solutions focused approach that bridges research and real‑world implementation. We collaborate closely with clinicians, policymakers, community organisations, patients and carers to ensure our work is not only academically robust, but also meaningful, feasible, and aligned with the needs of the people and systems we serve.
As one of the only units nationally with a dedicated focus on the health economics of palliative care, PaCE is uniquely positioned to shape the future of the sector, driving timely and cost‑effective palliative care, reducing inequities, and influencing how every Australian and their family experiences death. Our ambition is to build a sustainable, high‑impact unit that nurtures the researchers and leaders of tomorrow, strengthens system performance, and contributes to a more compassionate and efficient health system.
We strive to generate the best evidence through state-of-the-art research to inform healthcare policies on improving the long-term health outcomes of people living with chronic illness and reducing the economic burden on society.
We are a team of nationally and internationally recognised experts in health economics simulation modelling and quality-of-life measurement in chronic diseases. We develop and use innovative simulation models for chronic diseases to inform health service providers, government and industry about the health and economic impact of health interventions and policies. We work collaboratively with researchers, general practitioners, hospital-based clinicians, and decision-makers to improve the life expectancy and quality of life of people living with chronic illness and their families, and to optimise health services.
