Congratulations to Shuai Li, the Centre’s finalist in the 2020 Premier’s Awards for Health and Medical Research

Dr Shuai Li (pictured above), a recent PhD graduate from the Centre for Epidemiology & Biostatistics has been shortlisted for the 2020 Premier’s Awards for Health and Medical Research (Public Health Researcher category). Other two PhD graduates from our School, Dr Cindy Xinyang Hua and Dr Jesse Young, have been shortlisted for Health Service Researcher Category and Public Health Researcher category respectively. Shuai completed his PhD on DNA methylation and breast cancer risk factors using twin and family studies and applying novel methods under the primary supervision of Professor John Hopper. You can find out more about his outstanding doctoral work at Centre’s Graduate Researcher Alumni Profile.

The Premier’s Awards for Health and Medical Research is awarded annually to recognise the exceptional contributions made by early-career health and medical researchers in their PhD studies. Category award winners receive $5,000 each and the overall Excellence Award winner receives additional $15,000. The final award presentation will be on 23 March 2020 at Federation Square.
