Public Hearing on COVID-19 Vaccination Program

Public hearing on the experiences of people with disability during the COVID-19 vaccination program.

On Monday 17 May 2021, the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability held a public hearing to examine the approach of the Australian Government and its agencies to the vaccination of people with disability and disability support workers.

The focus of the hearing was on the vaccination program, noting the reports of extremely low rates of vaccination for people with disability and across the disability support workforce, and the lack of information about the implementation of the vaccine rollout.

Professor Anne Kavanagh was invited to present to the Commissioners as an expert witness. She presented findings from the Disability Support Workforce and COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy research.
