Improving consensus processes in health sciences
Project Details
This project aims to find the best methods for health scientists and practitioners to come to an expert consensus. The project expects to generate new knowledge in this area using the findings of research on optimal group decision making (‘the wisdom of crowds’) and the aggregated judgements of experts on scientific consensus. The expected outcome of the project is a set of criteria that health scientists can use when setting up a consensus process and to evaluate the quality of previous consensus processes. This should provide significant benefits by improving the quality of scientific recommendations on topics of public importance such as clinical practice guidelines and health policy.
