Affordable housing and health for low-income renters: a decision-making tool
Project Details
Low-income renters in Victoria face high housing costs, low vacancy rates, and poor housing conditions, which negatively impact their health and wellbeing.
This research will model Victoria’s housing market to provide evidence-based insights into systemic reform that can improve living conditions for low-income renters. The model will simulate the complex interactions between households, landlords, developers, financial institutions, and government decision-makers to assess the impact of various policy scenarios.
The goal is to identify which policy settings will maximise social and public health benefits and create a fairer system for low-income renters.
This project is funded by the VicHealth Impact Research grant scheme.
