Our DNA

Project Details

This project involves the creation of the Australian Genetic Diversity Database (AGDD) which is designed to increase the genomic representation of Australian Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities from African, Asian, Middle Eastern and Oceanian backgrounds, as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This program will aggregate and share genetic variation data from over 20,000 Australians, including at least 7,000 new high-quality whole genome sequences from participants from genomically under-represented groups recruited following participatory community engagement. A health economic evaluation will be undertaken in this project to understand the economic impact of identifying, validating, and returning clinically actionable genetic variants to participants, in CALD communities.
