Economic evaluation of interventions alongside neonatal clinical trials

Project Details

Neonatal trials are essential for improving healthcare outcomes for newborns by ensuring that treatments and interventions are safe, effective, and value for money for sustainable healthcare innovations. Our unit has been involved in a number of neonatal trials for generation of high-quality cost-effectiveness evidence and health service research, to facilitate the translation of new treatments and interventions into routine practice.

The types of neonatal trials we are involved in includes drug trials (e.g. surfactant), device trials (e.g. non-invasive respiratory support device), nutritional trials (e.g., Vitamin D, donor milk), behavioural and developmental trials (e.g. telehealth for early developmental intervention), and trials that examine variations in standard care (e.g. routine measurement of gastric residual volumes). We are also committed to investigate the efficiencies of innovative trials designs (e.g. adaptive platform trials) compared to traditional trial design.
