Causes of variation are genetic and non-genetic factors associated with risk but are not necessarily causal per se. We have invented new ways of making inference about causation from analysing family data, called ICE FALCON and ICE CRISTAL, and applied these to mammogram risk scores (MRS), polygenic risk scores (PRS) and other familial risk scores for breast cancer based on family history categories or BOADICEA (FRS).
