Bladder cancer is a common cancer worldwide, and incidence varies greatly by sex and region. To improve prevention of bladder cancer, identifying modifiable risk factors is important. Considering that nutrients or their metabolites are excreted through the urinary tract and contact with the bladder mucosa, diet may play an important role in the development of bladder cancer. My doctoral research aims to assess the associations between different dietary factors and bladder cancer risk including the consumption of beverages, meat, fruit, vegetables, dietary fat intake and dietary patterns using pooled analysis of prospective cohort data from the National Cancer Institute Cohort Consortium. I will also assess these associations by sex, age, smoking status, geographic region, and disease subtype.
