CEB PhD Completion Seminar: The Epidemiology of Adult Chronic Cough

Cough in adults is a common but heterogeneous condition, however, cough and its phenotypes in the general adult population are poorly understood. My systematic review found inconsistent evidence on risk factors of chronic cough, especially for occupational exposure and ambient air pollution. I identified six novel cough phenotypes from a general population, each with distinct clinical features from childhood to middle age. I also found distinct associations between occupational exposure, ambient air pollution, and the novel cough phenotypes.
