Glioma is a malignant brain cancer with one of the poorest survival rates among cancers.  Men are at least forty percent more likely to develop glioma than women and there are few known environmental or behavioural risk factors. Known genetic risk variants account for a small proportion of glioma heritability.  Using genome-wide association analyses (GWAS), this thesis explores whether sex differences in genetic susceptibility may explain part of this missing heritability.
