Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is the most common cause of vaginal discharge in reproductive age women. It is linked to sexual activity and is associated with significant morbidity, including adverse reproductive outcomes, an increased risk of acquiring STIs, including HIV, and increases the risk of developing pelvic inflammatory disease.  However, while there has been extensive research into BV in reproductive age women, little is known about the condition in postmenopausal women.

This MPhil explores BV in postmenopausal women and includes an exploration of the BV experiences of Australian postmenopausal women and the factors associated with the condition after menopause.
