Professor Linda Bennett awarded an Australia-Indonesia Institute Grant

Professor Linda Bennett

University of Melbourne researcher Professor Linda Bennett has been awarded an Australia-Indonesia Institute Grant for collaborative curriculum development of cervical cancer patient education in Indonesia.

This project involves co-development and piloting of a patient education module for Indonesian patients diagnosed with cervical cancer, providing a crucial resource for  health professionals, filling a critical information gap and enhancing patients’ right to quality health care.

“Receiving comprehensive information about cervical cancer, empowers women to understand their diagnosis, treatment options, and self-care practices” project lead Professor Linda Bennett said. “This knowledge can significantly improve their ability to make informed decisions about their health.”

The team being led by Professor Bennett includes long-time colleagues from the Centre for Reproductive Health at Universitas Gadjah Mada and the Nossal Institute for Global Health at the University of Melbourne.

Professor Bennett is a global leader in research on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Indonesia, and her current research includes: Indonesian women's lived experiences of cervical cancer; Indonesia's progress towards primary and secondary prevention of this disease; and understanding the intersectional drivers of health inequity among vulnerable populations in Indonesia.
