Dr Nuruzzaman Khan Receives Prestigious Bangladesh Academy of Sciences Gold Medal Award

The Nossal Institute for Global Health is proud to announce that Dr. Md. Nuruzzaman Khan has been awarded the prestigious Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) Gold Medal Award for 2024. This award recognises Dr. Khan’s exceptional contributions to the field of public health, particularly his impactful research on maternal and child health in low- and middle-income countries, and among refugees and forcibly displaced populations.
Started in 1985, the BAS Gold Medal is one of the highest honours conferred by the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences and stands among the most prestigious scientific awards in the country. It is awarded annually to one senior scientist and one early career scientist based on the quality of their scientific publications, innovation, societal relevance, and potential for long-term impact—evaluated through an in-depth peer review process by panels of distinguished national and international experts. Dr. Khan is the youngest recipient of this award in the nearly 40-year history of the BAS Gold Medal. This honour is a testament to Dr. Khan’s academic excellence as well as recognition of how his research has and is contributing to national development and global health knowledge.
