Director of Onemda

The University of Melbourne is seeking a leader in Indigenous Health for the role of Director of Onemda: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Wellbeing, an outstanding Indigenous group of researchers, educators, and advocates specialising in public health with a focus improving health and wellbeing outcomes for Indigenous people in Australia and elsewhere through partnerships and collaborations and strong ethical foundations.

Re-established in 2023 under the leadership of Professor Catherine Chamberlain, Onemda includes 53 academic and professional staff and 10 students, including 27 (18 staff, 9 students) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members.

The Indigenous Eye Health Unit is one of three research units in Onemda with the Indigenous Studies Unit led by Professor Marcia Langton and Indigenous Health Equity Unit led by Professor Cath Chamberlain.

This position represents an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team committed to undertaking research and teaching that draws on the strength and knowledge of Indigenous peoples and communities to understand the pathways to health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of all ages and to identify avenues for prevention of avoidable morbidity and mortality.
