Introduction

National Diabetes Week provides a great opportunity to promote good diabetes eye care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities. Read more about the campaign on the Diabetes Australia website.

In light of COVID-19 and the reduction in face-to-face events, we have developed a range of 'Check Today, See Tomorrow' (CTST) diabetes eye care social media resources to assist communities and organisations promote National Diabetes Week and good diabetes eye care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

We are also available to help communities and organisations customise social media tiles with local images and messages.

In addition to the CTST social media resources, we also have a huge range of CTST diabetes eye care resources available for free order and download on the IEHU website.

The ‘Check Today, See Tomorrow’ social media tiles have been designed for use across all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc.). Customise Your Own Social Media Tile

‘Check Today, See Tomorrow’ wants to support community adaptation of our resources. If you would like to have a customised version of any of the current social media tiles please email Indigenous-eyehealth@unimelb.edu.au with the photo, message and logo you would like included on your social media tile.

Please allow at least 48 hours for the social media tile to be created and sent back you.

We understand that the impact of COVID-19 has varied across the country and some community members may be feeling unsure what to do if they need treatment for an existing condition or they notice a change in their vision. We encourage you to amend these messages to suit local need.

• Example 5: Everyone with diabetes is at risk of going blind. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with diabetes require a YEARLY eye check to reduce their risk of vision loss and blindness. When did you last have your eyes checked?
