About the Event
The Indigenous Data Network invites you to join us in person for the IDN Indigenous Datathon 2026 at the University of Melbourne, Naarm/Melbourne.
This year's Datathon will focus directly on the national Closing the Gap targets. We welcome participants with a wide range of backgrounds and skills who are interested in engaging with health and business data, though we strongly encourage the participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Participants will work with datasets sourced directly from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) and the Dilin Duwa Centre for Indigenous Business Leadership, with both organisations also assisting in securing further data from external custodians. The event is delivered in official collaboration with our Industry Partner, the Productivity Commission.
Who should attend?
We actively encourage participation from people who work with Indigenous data, including those from:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations
- Universities, researchers and other research organisations
- The GLAM sector, including galleries, libraries, archives and museums
- Commonwealth, state, territory and local governments
- Private sector, including not-for-profit organisations
Cost
Participation in the Datathon is free of charge. Please note that participants will need to cover their own travel, accommodation, and any associated expenses. Further details on bursaries will be announced soon.
