Prof Langton in speaking tour of India

Professor Marcia Langton AO has completed a speaking tour in India – including an appearance at the  at the Jaipur Literature Festival 2026 – to speak about her writing and research.

At the Jaipur Literature Festival Professor Langton participated in a panel entitled The Old Ways, with Indian Bodo writer Rashmi Narzary and moderated by journalist Georgina Godwin.

Prof Langton then visited  Humayun’s Tomb World Heritage Site Museum in Delhi and the Museum of Australia’s exhibition, Songlines: Tracking the Seven Sisters. She delivered a response to the exhibition and then participated in a Q&A.

Prof Langton also delivered a lecture at the Delhi School of International Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, as part of its Global leaders Lecture series, in a collaboration with The Australian High Commission. The topic of the lecture was Listening to Songlines, Knowledge, and Indigenous Sovereignty.

Prof Langton's final appearance in India was a presentation delivered at the Kerala Literature Festival at Kozhikode Beach. The topic was Ancient Rights, Modern Fights: Indigenous Sovereignty in the 21st Century.
