Two new staff members have joined the Indigenous Studies Unit

Dr Ross Jones

Senior Research Fellow, Indigenous Studies Unit

Dr Ross L Jones joins the Indigenous Studies Unit, Onemda as Senior Research Fellow. A historian of medicine, science and education, Ross was Lead Editor and Senior Research Fellow on the Indigenous History of the University of Melbourne Project, which produced the acclaimed two-volume Dhoombak Goobgoowana: a History of Indigenous Australia and University of Melbourne (2024-25). Ross has held research and honorary positions at the University of Melbourne, the University of Sydney and La Trobe University, and is a widely published author, public historian and media contributor.

 

Mayanna Tagaloa

Project Manager, Indigenous Studies Unit

Mayanna has joined the University of Melbourne as a Project Manager within the Indigenous Studies Unit, bringing experience across Planning, Performance, and Advisory roles. Mayanna has recently relocated from New Zealand and is passionate about building strong relationships, fostering collaboration, and supporting projects that create meaningful and lasting change.
