NAIDOC Week March 2023
Staff from MSPGH and Onemda participated in the NAIDOC Week March.
NAIDOC Week (2-9 July) is an Indigenous-led celebration of the history, cultures, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and is born from Aboriginal activism in the 1920 and 30s.
The national NAIDOC theme for 2023, 'For Our Elders', recognises that across every generation, Elders have played and continue to play an important role and hold a prominent place in communities and families. Elders are cultural Knowledge holders, trailblazers, nurturers, advocates, teachers, survivors, leaders, hard workers and are held in high esteem by the communities that they live and work in. The tenacity and strength of Elders carry the survival of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the next generation continues the fight for equality.
We are grateful to the many Elders who have been instrumental in our reconciliation journey and who have shared and continue to share their wisdom and knowledge.
Staff from Onemda have created a banner which they took NAIDOC Week March on Friday 7 July.
