Vale Dr Krishna Hort

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Dr Krishna Hort. Kris’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable populations was evident in every project he undertook, leaving a significant mark on the field of global health and the wider international development sector. Kris was highly-regarded and notable and among the sector’s leading impact and change-makers especially in communities in Bangladesh, Indonesia and across South East Asia.

Dr Hort joined the Australian International Health Institute (AIHI) in 2006 as Program Director. His role and career progressed as AIHI transitioned to the Nossal Institute for Global Health with Kris as Deputy Director and then a move to CEO of Nossal Institute Limited before he changed pace and took on a less senior role and more part-time responsibilities. In his time with us at Nossal Institute, Kris's leadership and expertise were instrumental in driving forward groundbreaking initiatives that aimed to address health disparities and promote equity. His passion for social justice and his relentless pursuit of innovative solutions have left an indelible mark on our organization and the lives of countless individuals around the world.
