Bio: Liam completed his Bachelor of Science in 2012 at the University of Melbourne and then pursued a sporting career before returning to complete his Master of Public Health in 2019, specialising in Health Economics. He went on to finish the Doctor of Medicine in 2023, during which he was awarded the Australian Orthopaedic Association Joint University Scholarship and the Neil Bromberger Medal for Orthopaedic Surgery. Liam is currently working at St Vincent’s Hospital as a Surgical Resident alongside his PhD.
Abstract: Liam’s PhD is under the primary supervision of A/Prof An Tran-Duy and co-supervision of Prof Kim Dalziel and A/Prof Claudia Di Bella. He is completing a critical appraisal of the contemporary economic evidence and generation of new evidence for the cost-effectiveness of novel technologies in orthopaedic surgery for bone reconstruction, with a special focus on 3D-printed implants and robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery. His PhD is financially supported by an Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship.
