Abstract: Housing is a critical and modifiable driver of child health inequities that remains under-recognised in research and policy. This thesis draws on national longitudinal data and international evidence to examine how unaffordable, poor-quality, and insecure housing influence health across the life course. Through a staged program of evidence synthesis, multidimensional measurement, and causal analysis, it develops a policy-relevant understanding of housing as a structural determinant of health. The findings support early-life housing intervention as a pathway to improving health equity.
