Title: Strengthen the role of health economics in maternal and child health to inform priority setting and funding decisions

Abstract: Maternal and child health (MCH) is a global concern, representing the well-being of future generations. This research focuses on MCH in the perinatal period. Specifically, it aims to generate evidence on cost-effective strategies to improve health outcomes for preterm infants, assess the quality of life of these children and their carers, examine inequality in healthcare service utilisation during the perinatal period, and estimate gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM)-related healthcare costs and their changes across different diagnostic periods.
Bio: Zhuomin is a PhD student at the Child Health Economics Unit within the Centre for Health Policy, supervised by Dr. Xinyang Hua and Prof. Kim Dalziel. Zhuomin has an academic background in economics. She is currently working with both clinical and population-based administrative datasets, aiming to inform health policy and guide resource allocation in maternal and child health care.
