Abstract: Adaptive platform trials offer an unprecedented opportunity to enhance trial efficiency and accelerate decision-making. It is an innovative trial design that permits the perpetual comparison of multiple interventions on a central platform, with capabilities for introducing new interventions into the ongoing trial. This flexibility introduces complexity for data analysis and funding decisions, highlighting the need for stronger evidence on cost-effectiveness and guidance on adapting traditional economic evaluation methods. This PhD will focus on investigating how health economics can contribute at various stages of the trial, and the economic value of adaptive platform trials in the perinatal (i.e., pregnancy and first year of birth) context.
