Title: The impact of increased corporatisation in Australian healthcare on the equity of health services delivery

Abstract: This research examines impacts of increased corporatisation in Australian healthcare on the equity of healthcare delivery using general practice as a case study. It investigates the availability and transparency of data required to assess corporatisation, analyses changes in practice size and co-location of services over time, examines associations with GP care delivery, and explores GPs’ perspectives on corporatisation and its implications for care. Findings suggest corporatisation is reshaping general practice, with implications for equity, while data limitations constrain robust evaluation.
Bio: Preet is a PhD Candidate and Research Assistant at the Centre for Health Policy, University of Melbourne, and a Research Affiliate with the University of Sydney. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Majoring in Economics) and a Master of Health Economics from Deakin University. Her research examines privatisation and corporatisation in healthcare, with a particular focus on their impacts on equity in health service delivery and implications for policy, governance, and health system reform.
