Title: Advancing methodology in the economic evaluation of population genomic risk screening for cancer
Supervisors: A/Professor Ilias Goranitis, Economics of Genomic and Precision Medicine Unit, Centre for Health Policy; Prof Kim Dalziel, Child Health Economics Unit, Centre for Health Policy; Dr Li Huang, Child Health Economics Unit, Centre for Health Policy; Dr Fanny Franchini, Cancer Health Services Unit, Centre for Health Policy
Abstract: Population Genomic Risk Screening (PGRS) utilises genomic technology to test otherwise healthy members of the population for gene variants associated with common underdiagnosed conditions. This research project aims to facilitate pragmatic health policy decision making through the expansion of current methodology in the economic evaluation to enable the inclusion of previously neglected components, such as system capacity, consumer preferences, and equity.
