Title: The Health Economics of Returning Cancer Risk Results from Genomic Testing
Supervisors: A/Prof Ilias Goranitis, Economics of Genomics and Precision Medicine Unit, CHP; Ms Mary-Anne Young, Garvan Institute of Medical Research; Dr Amanda Willis, Garvan Institute of Medical Research
Abstract: Genomic testing is becoming increasingly common for clinical, private, and research purposes. When undertaking these tests variations in genes may be detected that provide indications of increased risk of developing certain conditions. Increased risks of cancer are one such potential finding that can result from these types of tests. This PhD explores the health economics of returning cancer risk, particularly breast and prostate cancer, through preference elicitation and economic evaluation.
Bio: Daniel Sheen is PhD candidate in the Economics of Genomics and Precision Medicine Unit within the Centre for Health Policy.
