Abstract: Evidence exists that trans, nonbinary, and gender diverse (TGD) people experience poorer health outcomes relative to cisgender populations. This seminar will showcase research on the experiences of TGD populations across the U.S. and Australian health systems. Dr. Meyers will discuss findings from U.S. Medicare data showing disparities in prevalence of chronic disease among TGD patients. Dr. Saxby will present the first national estimates of trends over time in mental health inequalities among TGD Australians using data from the 2001-2022 Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) survey.
