Marie-Anne Boujaoude Awarded 2025 IHEA Student Paper Prize
We are thrilled to share that Marie-Anne Boujaoude, a PhD student at the Economics of Global Health and Infectious Diseases Unit, has been awarded First Prize in the 2025 International Health Economics Association (IHEA) Student Paper Prize.
Marie-Anne’s paper, jointly awarded alongside Hidetoki Nakayama (University of Osaka), was selected from a competitive pool of submissions from students across 20 countries, including Australia, Canada, China, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, the UK, and the USA.
Her winning paper explores health inequality aversion—a critical and timely topic in the field of health economics. The paper makes a significant contribution by advancing our understanding of how societies value fairness in health outcomes and supports more equitable health decision-making. Her work not only demonstrates academic rigour but also provides valuable insights for policymakers working to reduce health disparities.
Marie-Anne will present her paper in a special session at the 2025 IHEA Congress in Bali, where she will showcase her findings alongside other leading emerging researchers.
We congratulate Marie-Anne on this well-deserved recognition and are proud to celebrate her contributions to equity-focused health economics.
