Bringing Equity to the HTA Conversation at HTAsiaLink 2026

Marie-Anne Boujaoude attended the 13th HTAsiaLink Conference in Taipei, where she contributed to discussions on advancing equity in health technology assessment (HTA) across the Asia-Pacific region.

Marie-Anne led the pre-conference workshop “Rethinking Equity in HTA”, together with colleagues from across the region, including Prof Sitanshu Sekhar Kar and Ms Jeyanti Anand from JIPMER, Prof Manuel Espinosa from the University of Hong Kong, Dr Kyoko Shimamoto from Keio University and the University of York, A/Prof Huang-tz Ou from National Cheng Kung University, and Dr Chanthawat Patikorn from Chulalongkorn University.

The workshop explored the definitions of equity and how the methods to incorporate equity in economic evaluations can be more systematically considered in HTA, bringing together perspectives on methods, decision-making and implementation across different health systems.

Marie-Anne also presented her research, “Equity impact of hypothetical pneumococcal vaccination schedules for Indigenous Australians: A retrospective distributional cost-effectiveness analysis using a dynamic transmission model.”

Her presentation was awarded second prize for oral presentation in the Economic Evaluations track.

Through both the workshop and her research presentation, Marie-Anne contributed to bringing equity considerations more prominently into conversations about HTA and economic evaluation.
