Advancing Global Evidence on Health Inequality Aversion

An upcoming webinar, organised by the Equity-Informative Economic Evaluation Special Interest Group at iHEA, will explore key concepts, methodologies, and international evidence on health inequality aversion. The session begins with an introduction to the concept and an overview of one of the methods used to elicit the relevant parameters. This will be followed by presentations from leading researchers in the field in Australia, Uganda, Japan, and India, who have conducted surveys to derive societal inequality aversion parameters. Speakers will discuss their experiences, highlight challenges, and share key findings, providing insights into how different contexts shape preferences for equity in health.

The webinar features a distinguished panel including Professor Richard Cookson, Marie-Anne Boujaoude,  Professor Sitanshu Sekhar Kar, Dr Kyoko Shimamoto, and Kenneth Katumba. Their combined expertise in health economics, policy analysis, and equity research offers a well-rounded perspective on the complexities of health inequality aversion.
