Biography
Carolina is a health economics researcher and evaluator in the Melbourne Health Economics at the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health. She is currently working in the Melbourne Health Technology and Value Assessment Collaboration (M-VAC) team, conducting clinical and economic evaluations of new pharmaceuticals and medical services that are seeking Australian Government subsidy.
Carolina works closely with Dr Michelle Tew investigating the environmental impact of an economic evaluation in health care and the factors that impact decision-making in cancer medicine recommendations. Carolina also has a keen interest in the health economics of environmental health and genomics research and is looking forward to conducting research in these areas.
Carolina completed a Master of Public Health at the University of Melbourne, specialising in Health Economics and Economic Evaluation, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Carolina has extensive international and local experience working in the health care sector. Outside of work, Carolina loves flamenco and salsa dancing, enjoys cycling, hiking and participating in and organising social and community activities.
