Melbourne Health Economics (MHE) recently had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Matthew Robson, a leading expert in experiments design and health inequality aversion. During his visit, Matthew provided a wealth of knowledge and contributed to the professional development of our team through a series of insightful activities.

Seminar on "A Fair Innings? Preferences for Prioritisation of the Less Healthy"
Matthew began his visit by delivering an engaging seminar which explored a new methodology in eliciting preferences. The aim was to gauge support for different interpretations and intensities of the fair innings prioritisation principle in a United Kingdom general public sample (n = 230). The seminar sparked lively discussions among the MHE team, offering fresh perspectives and fostering a deeper understanding of the latest developments.

Workshop on Social Welfare Functions and Experiment Designs
Matthew also led an interactive workshop on the primer to social welfare function and experiment design. The session provided our team with an invaluable foundation in social welfare functions, enhancing our analytical skills and offering an overview of various research methodologies and experimental frameworks. His detailed explanations and case examples gave the team practical insights into designing robust experiments, which will be crucial for advancing our research efforts.

Collaborative Discussions and Future Prospects
Throughout his visit, Matthew met with several members of the MHE team to discuss ongoing projects and potential future collaborations. These one-on-one sessions were invaluable, allowing for in-depth conversations about current research and exploring new ideas. Matthew’s insights into our work were incredibly helpful and have opened doors for future projects and partnerships.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Matthew for his time, expertise, and dedication to advancing the work of our team!
