Cancer Health Services Research sharing their research on economic modelling, HTA, and AI chatbots at the 2025 Australian Health Economics Society (AHES) conference

Researchers from the Cancer Health Services Research (CHSR) Unit presented an organised session: "Advancing Health Economic Modelling and HTA for Cancer Innovation: Real-World Data, Genomics, and Personalised Care", at the Australian Health Economic Society (AHES) Annual Conference 2025 in Canberra on 11-12 September 2025.

The organised session was chaired by our unit head, Professor Gang Chen, who also served as the Vice President of AHES from 2022 to 2025. The presentations include:

  • "Longitudinal Analysis of Health State Utility Scores in Australian Cancer Populations", presented by Mr Fan He.
  • "Genomic testing and Health Services Pattern Recognition for Economic Evaluation of Cancer Care", presented by Dr Hadi Akbarzadeh Khorshidi.
  • "Predicting Patient Eligibility for Novel Colorectal Cancer Therapies: An Integrated Modelling Approach to Support Early Health Technology Assessment in Australia ", presented by Dr Fanny Franchini.
  • "Health Economic Evaluation of Genomic Risk Stratification for Managing Localised Prostate Cancer Overtreatment in Australia: Model Conceptualisation and Current Challenges", presented by Dr Juntao Lyu.

Dr Yafei Si also presented his research at the conference, "Quality, Safety, and Disparity of an AI Chatbot in Managing Chronic Diseases: Simulated Patient Experiments ", at the "Demand for and supply of healthcare" session.

AHES is the leading professional society dedicated to promoting the study, practice, and development of health economics in Australia.
