PhD Title:

Is sharing 'Caring'? - Nurses experiences with disclosing medical information to children.

Abstract:

The proposed study aims to explore the experience and attitude of nurses towards communication to children aged between 4 and 12, who have been hospitalised with a serious illness. The significance of this research is the potential communication strategies that may be implemented to improve a child’s psychological well-being during a period of significant change. Data will be collected through semi-structured interviews that will be recorded then transcribed verbatim. This qualitative study will take a phenomenological approach.
