Thesis Title

A community-based exploration of young migrant access to mental health services and support in Western Victoria

Description of PhD Project

The project will involve qualitative research with groups and individuals from migrant backgrounds living in regional Western Victoria, in collaboration with the Ballarat EVOLVE Strategic Partnership. Discussion and interviews will help identify significant challenges and existing strengths around access to mental health support for young migrants. While some barriers and facilitators to mental health service access will be examined, alternative sources of community-based support may also be explored. Ideally, this research aims to help strengthen collaborative relationships and communication between migrant communities, healthcare providers, and the people working in between these spaces.
