Frequently Asked Questions for using the Capturing Obstructive Behaviour online data capture tool

Q: Can I report past obstruction?

A: This study focuses on the interactions you have with your clients during the study period (June 16 - July 15 2025). You can report on their past obstruction experiences if you hear about those obstructions during the study period. In other words, please only record information about patients you have interacted with during the study period, regardless of when the obstruction itself occurred.

Q: Can we include cases of obstruction that our colleagues in our clinic tell us about?

A: Please only report on clients you are directly caring for / speaking with.

Q: I’m going to see the client multiple times, as I’ve just scheduled their surgical procedure. Do I need to wait to fill it out after they attend their final appointment with me?

A: You can fill the form out after any appointment in which a client tells you about obstruction they have experienced. If they return in the future and tell you about further obstructions, you can fill the form out again at that time to report on the new obstructive behaviours. Try to report each obstruction you hear about just once.

Q: What should I do if I want to debrief about my experience in the study?

A: If you would like a non-urgent debriefing during the pilot, please email Carolyn Mogharbel (carolynm@1800myoptions.org.au) to set up a time to speak. Please do not call the 1800MyOptions phone line, which is reserved for care seekers. After the pilot ends (16 July) you can debrief by participating in the evaluation of the pilot (an online survey or phone interview with someone from the research team). If you have an urgent need for support, you can contact Beyond Blue (1300 224 636) or Lifeline (13 11 14 ) who offer 24/7 support. You can also contact your EAP or connect with other peers involved in abortion care by joining the AUSCAPS Community of Practice (https://medcast.com.au/communities/auscapps).
